The Green Bay Packaging Art Fair will offer festival patrons a chance to view and purchase the works of nearly 100 fine artists and craftpersons from throughout the Midwest. Exhibited for sale will be original works representing various media forms including basketry, ceramics, fiber art, glass, graphic art, jewelry, metalsmithing, painting, paper art, photography, sculpture and woodwork. (See Artists listing).
Demonstrations at Arti Gras provide a view of artists and their work during the creative process. Art demonstrations include ceramics by Dean Hoegger, mixed media by Mary Curran, and caricatures by Bernie Tennis. Spinners and weavers will also be demonstrating. Patrons will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the artist's work. Demonstrating artists will also have work on display available for purchase.
The newARTS Art Raffle will feature artwork ranging in retail value from $25.00 to $500.00, which has been donated by Arti Gras exhibitors. A fabulous collection will be represented - everything from jewelry and photography to ceramics and sculpture. Each art piece will be raffled separately with tickets sold at $1.00. This process will allow people the chance to put as many tickets as they want towards a particular piece. Proceeds from the raffle will support newARTS and its many programs including scholarships for college and high school students; its regranting program; professional growth opportunities for artists; educational outreach programs; and general support of newARTS.
There will be continuous entertainment highlighting a blend of jazz, blues, and classical music as well as dance performances. (see Entertainment schedule for details).
Arti Gras offers a multitude of creative activities for children including a variety of arts and crafts projects, and face painting such as mask making, bead stringing, Valentine card making and more.
Information booths and special exhibits by community organizations are represented at Arti Gras. Visitors will learn valuable information about the many cultural organizations in the Green Bay area.
An array of tasty treats will be offered at the event including American, Italian and Mexican specialties as well as gourmet soups and salads and much more.
